Abstract

The purposes of this research were:  1. to study the behaviors and the needs of exercise of the elderly  2. to develop  “Paslop Dancing and Line Dancing Exercise of the Elderly” programs 3. to experiment and compares the effect of taking exercise by Paslop Dancing and  Line Dancing Exercise of the elderly that give the effect on Health Related Physical fitness before and after practicing of week 4, week 6, and week 8, of male  and  female  elderly. The design of this research was divided into 3 stages as follows:  Stage 1; Study the behaviors and the needs of taking exercise of the elderly; the researcher used the questionnaire “Behaviors and the Needs of Exercise of the Elderly Persons“as the research instrument .The sample group consisted of the elderly people of Elderly Society of Nongkhai Municipalilty. The age of these elderly groups were 60-74.The total number of them were 368 elderly. The sample groups were divided by using the complete table which was adapted from Krejcie and Morgan (1970). The statistic analysis was interpreted in terms of percentage. Stage 2: The development of exercise programs; the researcher used “Paslop Dancing and Line Dancing Exercise”programs; in this stage, the researcher submitted both exercise programs to the experts to investigate. Then the researcher used these two exercise programs to test–retest in order to test“Reliability”with another group, not the sample group. This group comprised 60 elderly people. After that, the researcher used these exercise programs to take “Pilot Study” was to test the “Probability”of these two exercise programs. Stage 3: Trying - out; the researcher tried out “Paslop Dancing and Line Dancing Exercise” programs with the sample group, aged 60-74.The total number of the elderly were 30 males, and 30 females. They were selected by simple random sampling. Importantly, before and after practicing “Paslop Dancing Exercise” and “Line Dancing Exercise” of week 4, week 6, and week 8. After that the researcher analyzed the data using Two-way repeated measure ANOVA. If there was significantly different, Scheffe‘s method of paired comparison was utilized.


The results of this research: Inaddition, there were no significant differences of the “Paslop Dancing Exercise”group, and the “Line Dancing Exercise”group at .05 level. the results showed that the blood pressure, the cardio-respiratory endurance system, and the balance were no significantly different at the .05 level.  Moreover, the results indicated that the blood pressure, the cardio-respiratory endurance system, and the balance of the Male and Female elderly in the extended group were no significant differences  at the .05 level as well. In conclusion, Both exercise programs absolutely can help develop and promote male and female elderly persons’ health.
