Heading Towards SDGs 2030 : An Analysis of Gaps in Thai Education
Main Article Content
Abstract
The United Nations established the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015, with a timeline extending to 2030, to serve as a global framework for planning interconnected development at both domestic and international levels. A fundamental premise of this framework is that progress in one dimension must not adversely affect others, nor should it compromise the ability of future generations to utilize resources comparable to the present generation. Effective development necessitates achieving a balance among social, economic, and environmental sustainability. Consequently, 193 UN Member States, including Thailand, have endorsed this agenda through a voluntary commitment, with each nation designating specific agencies to oversee implementation and conduct continuous evaluation. In the context of Thailand, both public and private sectors have provided multidimensional support, demonstrating significant efforts to bridge historical development gaps. A pivotal area of focus is education, which is not confined solely to the classroom. Quality education is prevailing and context-dependent, fostering continuous extension and endless development. Ultimately, this approach contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by prioritizing human development and the cultivation of high-quality global citizens.
