The Development of Context-based Learning Integrated with Entrepreneurship Education Model for Promoting Analytic Reading and Creative Writing Skills in Thai Language for Grade 12 Students

Abstract

This study aimed to: 1) investigate the current situation, problems, and needs of context-based learning and entrepreneurship education in teaching Thai language for Grade 12 students; 2) develop the Local Economy in Mae Chan District Integrated with Entrepreneurship Education Model for teaching Thai language; 3) assess the effects of this model on students' analytic reading and creative writing skills. The Research and Development (R&D) methodology was employed. Data on the current situation, problems, and needs were collected from 86 Thai language teachers and 165 Grade 12 students at Maechanwittayakhom School, Chiang Rai province. The Context-based Learning Integrated with Entrepreneurship Education Model (CBL+EE) was developed with six teaching steps: 1) Introduce the real-life context, 2) Understand the context, 3) Identify and plan for investigation, 4) Practice constructing new knowledge, 5) Apply constructed knowledge in a new context, and 6) Summarize and reflect. Five experts validated the model and associated lesson plans, confirming a high level of quality. The CBL+EE lesson plans were then implemented, and data on students' skills were collected using evaluation forms. Quantitative analysis revealed that both teachers and students perceived a high level of needs and issues in context-based learning and entrepreneurship education. The efficiency of the CBL+EE model (E1/E2) was 86.62/89.22. The model significantly improved Grade 12 students' analytic reading and creative writing skills at a .05 significance level across all lesson plans.
