Guidelines for Promoting Academic Administration According to the Creative School Concept in Schools with Expanded Educational Opportunities Under the Office of the Primary Educational Service Area, Bangkok

Abstract

This research aimed to (1) study the actual conditions and expectations of teachers regarding academic administration according to the concept of creative schools and (2) examine guidelines for promoting academic administration according to the concept of creative schools in schools with expanded educational opportunities under the Office of the Primary Educational Service Area, Bangkok. This study employed a survey research design. The researcher studied creative schools according to the concept of Robinson and Aronica. The data providers were 80 secondary school teachers in schools with expanded educational opportunities under the Office of the Primary Educational Service Area, Bangkok, and 3 experts. The research instruments were questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, which were validated by 3 experts. The statistics used for data analysis were the need index (PNI modified). The research results showed that (1) the overall need index for promoting academic administration according to the concept of creative schools was 0.18. The components of academic administration according to the concept of creative schools with the highest priority were the curriculum, the environment, the role of administrators, the assessment, and the teaching methods, respectively. (2) The guidelines for promoting academic administration according to the concept of creative schools in schools with expanded educational opportunities included developing flexible curricula according to student needs, fostering a school culture that valued ​​diversity, providing an appropriate physical environment and a positive working atmosphere, conducting continuous assessment using various methods, and collaboratively identifying students’ abilities.
