People’s Participation in the Local Development of Sao Thong Hin Subdistrict Municipality, Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi Province

Abstract

This research aimed to study and compare the levels of people’s participation in the local development of Sao Thong Hin Subdistrict Municipality, Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi Province. The research used the quantitative study.  The study was divided into four dimensions namely decision, operation, benefit, and evaluation.  The sample used in the research included 396 residents from 8 Moos in the responsible areas of Sao Thong Hin Subdistrict Municipality, Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi Province.  The tool used for the research was questionnaire.  The statistics used in the data analysis included Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, t-test, F-test, One-way ANOVA, and Scheffe's method. The research findings revealed that for people’s participation in the local development of Sao Thong Hin Subdistrict Municipality, Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi Province, the overall mean was at fair level. The consideration of each dimension revealed the following: on decision and benefit, the mean of the levels of participation was at high level; on operation, the mean of the levels of participation was at fair level; and on evaluation, the mean of the levels of participation was at low level. The study of the comparison of the levels of participation, classified by personal factors, revealed that the levels of participation were different according to gender, age, education, occupation, and duration of residency at the statistical significance of .05.  But the levels of participation were not different according to the Moos’ residential areas and the locations in the areas.
