The Influence of Supervisors' Authentic Leadership on Employees’ Job Performance: The Mediating Role of Job Satisfaction

Abstract

This research aimed to examine how supervisors' authentic leadership influences employees' job performance and to investigate the mediating role of job satisfaction in this relationship. The sample used for analysis consisted of 252 employees from an automotive parts manufacturing company in Pinthong 1 Industrial Estate, Chonburi Province. Simple random sampling was conducted to collect data from employees across all departments. A structured questionnaire was employed for data collection based on relevant theoretical concepts and prior research. Statistical analyses included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and structural equation modeling to test the research hypotheses. The findings revealed that supervisors' authentic leadership had no significant direct effect on employees' job performance. However, it had a significant indirect effect through job satisfaction. The model accounted for 35.8% of the variance in employees' job performance. The findings offer practical guidance for managers on what characteristics supervisors should select and develop, which can improve job satisfaction and employee performance.
