An Analysis into the Political Economy of Thailand

Abstract

This article aimed at presenting the analysing into the concept of the political economy in Thailand. The qualitative research was used to synthesize the secondary documents. The focus was on the analysis of integrated political economy through sociological concepts in 8 aspects including 1) the political economy in Thailand from past to future, 2) the implementation of political economy policy, 3) the political economy in Thailand under conflicting situations, 4) roles of the political economy in other subs-fields, 5) the development of integrated public policy through political economy, 6) the political economy on the agricultural produce, 7) the political economy of the welfare system, and 8) the Buddhist political economy. The analysis into the capitalist political economy is based on the concept related to the division of labor, the skill and production efficiency, 2) the concept related to the comparative advantages thus helping reduce the production cost and being able to compete in the market. If the political economy of Thailand is to overcome the trap and go beyond the level of moderate income, the technology must be upgraded, the culture must be a focal point, and the network must be developed.
