Abstract

The research aimed to 1) explore the needs and health media consumption behaviors of upper primary school students, and 2) develop oral and dental health learning materials for this group. The study was conducted in two phases. Phase 1 examined students' needs and media
consumption behaviors through interviews with both students and health education teachers. Phase 2 involved designing and producing prototype media, which were evaluated for quality by experts and for satisfaction by the sample group. The sample consisted of 45 students from grades 4 to 6 at a school in Nakhon Chaisi District, Nakhon Pathom Province, selected through purposive sampling. Findings revealed that most students preferred 2D cartoon characters with superhero-like traits. They favored simplified designs with clear outlines, bright colors, and found animated cartoons more engaging than books. Posters were preferred for group viewing, especially those
with interactive features focusing on visuals over text. The cartoons were expected to encourage critical thinking. Nine types of health learning materials were developed, including interactive storybooks, brochures, animated cartoons, exhibition posters, banners, standees, pins, augmented reality (AR), and Facebook Pages. Expert evaluations rated all media types as "very good," with
interactive storybooks rated highest, followed by animated cartoons and exhibition posters. The top three in user satisfaction were exhibition posters, interactive storybooks, and animated cartoons.
