Guidelines for Silpakorn University Undergraduate Students towards Learning Behavior Development

Abstract
The research aimed to study 1)The elements of students’ learning behavior 2)the relationship of supporting factors and students’ learning behavior, and 3)the development guidelines for learning behavior of undergraduate students at Silpakorn University. The research samples were 980 undergraduate students from Silpakorn University derived by stratified random sampling and distributed by faculty. The informants were 10 lecturers. The data were approached by the mixed methods research and analysed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, the Pearson's product-moment coefficient of correlation, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and content analysis.
The research found that 1) there were seven elements in students’ learning behavior includes: motivation to learn; participation in learning activities; conducting extra researches; revision of the lessons; preparation before examinations; attention in learning; behavior in the classroom. 2) the relationship between the four supporting factors, namely self-preparations, family’s supports, classroom atmosphere, and interactions with peers, and students’ learning behavior had a value between .454 – .493 which considered as a positive relationship with statistical significance at .01 3) the development guidelines for the students’ learning behavior in teaching and learning management, the instructor should cultivate these behaviors in students: motivational behavior; attending classes; studying both pre and post class and revising the lessons before examinations; having responsibility for assignments; getting prepared physically, mentally, and academically. In student activity management, the students should be encouraged to participate in learning activities by having a variety of extra-curricular activities and be in suitable environment. In environmental management, the learning environment should be created in order to support students to learn and seek for knowledge from different sources.
