Human Resource Management Strategies of Private Schools in the Digital Era

Abstract

The purposes of this study were 1) to analyze the current and desirable states of human resource management of private schools in the digital era, 2) develop human resource management strategies of private schools in the digital era, and 3) evaluate the human resource management strategies of private schools in the digital era. This research employed a mixed method. The sample for the quantitative research consisted of 350 administrators of general education private schools, selected by using stratified random sampling based on geographical regions. The key informants for the qualitative research were 9 school administrators and experts with experience in human resource management. The research instruments for data collection included a questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.86 and focus group discussion. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, PNImodified, and content analysis.


            The findings revealed that 1) the overall current state of human resource management of private schools in the digital era as perceived by the school administrators, was at a moderate level. The overall desirable state of human resource management of private schools in the digital era was at the highest level. The priority needs for human resource management of private schools in the digital era, ranked from highest to lowest, were: personnel performance appraisal (highest need), followed by personnel development and personnel maintenance, respectively. 2) The developed human resource management strategies for private schools in the digital era by using SWOT and TOWS metrix consisted of four main strategies: (1) planning, recruitment, and selection of human resources appropriate for the digital era. (2) Developing human resources for digital readiness. (3) Developing the human resource management platform system, and (4) creating a digital organizational culture. These strategies encompass a total of 21 operational guidelines, and 3) the human resource management strategies of private schools by focus group discussion, were confirmed to possess accuracy, appropriateness, and feasibility, and were deemed highly beneficial for the human resource management of private schools in the digital era.
