Developing Analytical Thinking Skills in the Thai Language Subject through the 4MAT Learning Cycle Model combined with the 5W1H Teaching Technique and Board Game for Grade 4 Students

Abstract
This study aimed to (1) examine the analytical thinking skills of Grade 4 students in the Thai language subject using the 4MAT learning cycle model integrated with the 5W1H teaching technique and board games, and (2) investigate the students’ satisfaction with this instructional approach. The research employed a quasi-experimental design. The participants were 37 Grade 4 students from one classroom at Anuban Pattani School. The research instruments included: (1) a lesson plan based on the 4MAT learning cycle model combined with the 5W1H technique and board games, (2) an analytical thinking skills test, and (3) a student satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The results showed that: (1) the students’ analytical thinking skills significantly improved after the implementation of the instructional model at the .05 level of significance, and (2) the students expressed a high level of satisfaction with the learning experience.
