Abstract

This This study aimed to: (1) develop a process to enhance awareness of the impacts of particulate matter smaller than 2.5 microns (PM2.5) using a digital media platform, and (2) compare students’ learning achievement, awareness, and attitudes before and after participating in the activities. The sample consisted of 22 Grade 7 (Matthayomsuksa 1) students. The research instruments included lesson plans, which yielded an index of item-objective congruence (IOC) of 0.91; a learning achievement test with a reliability coefficient of 0.89; an awareness scale with a reliability coefficient of 0.86; and an attitude scale with a reliability coefficient of 0.91. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and dependent samples t-test.

The results revealed that: (1) the awareness-enhancing process consisted of four stages: engagement, learning, practice, and evaluation with reflection. The lesson plans were rated at a high level of quality (𝑥̅=4.48, S.D.=0.52); (2) students’ post-test learning achievement scores (𝑥̅=24.77, S.D.=2.84) were significantly higher than their pre-test scores (𝑥̅=12.27, S.D.=3.15) at the .01 level; (3) students’ post-intervention awareness (𝑥̅=3.70, S.D.=0.59) was significantly higher than their pre-intervention awareness (𝑥̅=2.98, S.D.=0.32) at the .01 level; and (4) students’ post-intervention attitudes (𝑥̅=4.16, S.D.=0.57) were significantly higher than their pre-intervention attitudes (𝑥̅=3.67, S.D.=0.29) at the .01 level.
