Effects of the COVID Situation on Thai Education Management: Alternative Education is the Main Way and the Way to Survive Education in the Future
Main Article Content
Abstract
It was found a positive impact on learning management in the situation of COVID-19 that educational institutions have changed their plans and goals in educational management. The Internet network system has been improved to be of higher quality. New learning management styles and technologies are used to make learning management more interesting, and new methods of measurement and evaluation are increasingly used. Executives develop themselves to have more knowledge and management skills. Teachers learn and develop more technology skills and change the way of teaching using appropriate measurement methods. Students spend more time with their families while reducing the time, risk, and cost of commuting to school. It was found the negative impact on the learning management system in educational institutions is that the internet network and communication are insufficient and the signal is unstable. Most educational institutions do not receive budget support from their respective agencies. The quality of teacher learning management declined because of the workload that affects the time of teaching and learning. Teachers are concerned about new learning arrangements and students’ academic performance will decline. Teachers lack morale in learning and performance management. Students receive less practical skills training and are unable to participate in study activities with their peers and lose the opportunity to learn from external sources and learning from practice. And parents have to pay for the provision of materials, equipment, media, technology, and internet for learning.
Alternative education is another approach to education that focuses on the learner as a very important aspect. It emphasizes using innovation in learning management and pays attention to age, gender, race, religion, values, beliefs, aptitudes, readiness, and interests, including the environment, community context, wisdom, knowledge, and arts and culture in the locality where the learners live. Therefore, learners have the opportunity to truly study according to their own potential. It is one of the important guidelines that can be a solution to Thailand's educational problems in the future due to the COVID-19. That requires a new normal lifestyle, affecting Thai education where students cannot go to normal schools.
