Abstract

This research aimed to causal factors influencing the statistical literacy of nine grader students in the three southernmost provinces, the sample was 350 of nine grader students. The research instrument was statistical literacy items test including five components as the literacy, statistical knowledge, mathematical knowledge, context knowledge, and critical skills. The questionnaire was divided into four factors as experience on statistics, learning attitude, achievement motivation, and teaching behavior. Confirmatory factor analysis with PLS-SEM estimated with the partial least square method was used in the data analysis. The results of
the hypothesis testing were supported only four hypotheses out of 7 hypotheses as follows:
1) achievement motivation had a statistically significant positive influence on the statistical literacy at the .05 level 2) achievement motivation had a statistically significant positive influence on the learning attitude at the .01 level. 3) achievement motivation had a statistically significant positive influence on the experience on statistics at the .01 level. 4) the teaching behavior had a statistically significant positive influence on the learning attitudes at the .01 level.
