A Study of the Ability to Implement STEM Education Project, Group Process, Project Presentation Skill, and Project Quality through Lesson Plans under the Concept of Assessment for Learning of Mathayom 5 Students

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study an ability to implement STEM education project, group process, project presentation skill, and project quality through lesson plans under the concept of assessment for learning of Mathayom 5 students from a Science and Mathematics Enrichment class at the Demonstration School of Ramkhamhaeng University. The target group consisted of 15 students divided into 5 groups of projects: 1) Remove Stain by Correction Pen, 2) Paper Shredders, 3) Helmet Dynamo, 4) Nightmare for Burglar, and 5) Crosswalk Warning Light Model. The researchers assessed the students through 3 feedback methods : peer assessments, self - assessments, and teacher assessments. These assessments were performed during the experiment, and at the end of the experiment in the second semester of the 2017 academic year. The tools used in this research were assessment forms of the ability to implement STEM education project, project presentation skill, group process, and project quality.


The data were analyzed using mean scores, percentages, and percentages of development. It was found that 1) the abilities to implement the STEM education projects and the project qualities of the 5 groups were very good, 2) the group processes for 4 groups were very good, while 1 group was found to be moderate (Group 5), and 3) the project presentation skills were very good for 4 groups, and was acceptable for 1 group (Group 2).
