The Development of Learning Management Model for Mathematical Problem Sloving by Using Inquiry cycle (5E) and K-W-D-L Technique for Students in Prathomsuksa 4

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to 1) analyze basic information of learning management model development for mathematical problem solving by using 5E Learning cycle and K-W-D-L techniques for students in Prathomsuksa 4 2) develop and verify the efficiency of learning management model for mathematical problem solving by using 5E learning cycle and K-W-D-L techniques for students in Prathomsuksa 4 3) study the result of using 5E learning cycle and K-W-D-L techniques for mathematical problem solving 4) identify the satisfaction level of students towards the learning management model for mathematical problem solving by using 5E learning cycle and K-W-D-L techniques. The samples used in this study were 31 students in Prathomsuksa 4/1, Bankathu2 Municipal School, collected data by a purposive sampling in the second semester of academic year 2016. The research instruments included learning management plan, learning achievement test and satisfaction questionnaires. The data was analyzed by mean (gif.latex?\bar{x}), standard deviation (S.D), and t-test (Dependent).  The results were as follows 1) The elements of learning management model for mathematical problem solving by using 5E learning cycle and K-W-D-L technique were the principles, objectives, the process of teaching activities, social system, and the responses. There were 5 phases in teaching activities; 1) stepped into the lesson and created an interest (engagement phase). 2) stimulated the information (encouragement phase) which focused on problem solving and answer finding related to previous knowledge by using KWDL techniques. 3) explained and summarized (explanation phase) 4) extended and applied the knowledge (extension phase). and 5) assessed efficiency (assessment phase). The Model for mathematical problem solving by using 5E learning cycle and K-W-D-L technique could be evaluated as 76.22 / 85.33 which higher than the standard criteria 75/75. 2. To compare pre and post using the model of learning management with 5E learning cycle and the K-W-D-L for students in Prathomsuksa 4, the average learning achievement score was statistically significant higher at .01 level. 3. The satisfaction level towards the learning management model with 5E learning cycle and the K-W-D-L for mathematical problem solving of the students in Prathomsuksa 4 was in high level.
