Abstract

Individuals select learning resources based on their goals. These resources can enhance student teachers’ knowledge, skills, characteristics, as well as attitudes. This research aimed to 1) determine various kinds of learning resources that student teachers majoring in Elementary Education use for self-development upon entering their teaching professions; 2) provide guidelines for pre-service teachers on the effective use of learning resources. Mixed-methods designs were used using surveys and focus groups. Research samples were the fourth-year Thai student teachers majoring in elementary education. The samples were divided into two groups: 1) the survey questionnaires; and 2) a focus group discussion. The data were analyzed by calculating the percentage, mean (gif.latex?\bar{x}) and standard deviation (S.D). The inductive content analysis was used to analyze the data obtained from the questionnaire and the focus group.
The main findings revealed that: 1) Online educational platforms (e.g., YouTube, and social media) were used most frequently by student teachers in their self - development. 2) Libraries were very important in providing educational resources. They were community hubs that created events that hosted experts whom student teachers can learn from. Interestingly, these teachers suggested that schools should provide co-learning spaces where students from different universities can come and learn together.
