School Administration Guidelines for Citizenship Promotion of Students in Basic Education in the Three Southern Border Provinces

Abstract

This qualitative research aimed to study the state of school administration for citizenship promotion of students in basic education in the three southern border provinces and to create school administration guidelines for citizenship promotion of students in basic schools in the three southern border provinces. Data collected with in-depth interviews by a semi - structured interview protocol. The purposeful selection were 27 key informants from 9 schools included administrators, teachers and parents in basic school from Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat and the data was collected by focus-group discussion with the experts. The data was analyzed with content analysis.  Research indicated the following results, 1) Administration state for citizenship promotion of students in basic education in the three southern border provinces such as schools have defined projects and activities, promoting knowledge about citizenship and there are supervision, monitoring and follow - up of citizenship engagement. 2) The guidelines for school administration citizenship promotion of students in basic education in the three southern border provinces such as establishment of a network committee for citizenship promotion of tudents in basic education in the three southern border provinces, determining projects and activities to build citizenship, development of teachers about student’s citizenship, creating an environment conducive to citizenship, student’s citizenship assessment and innovation for citizenship education.
