Implementation of Moral School under the Project of King Education Fund 3rd Batch (Southern Provinces)

Abstract




The purposes of this research consisted of quantitative and qualitative method were 1) to study the level of performance based on moral school process under the project of King Education Fund 3rd Batch (Southern Provinces), 2) to study the performance problems of moral school process under the project of King Education Fund 3rd Batch in Southern provinces, and 3) to find out the guidelines for the development of moral school under the project of King Education Fund 3rd Batch in Southern provinces. The population for quantitative method was eight schools participating in the project under King Education Fund 3rd Batch in three southern border provinces : Narathiwat, Yala and Pattani. The respondents composed of 15 persons from each school : 1 school administrator, 1 teacher in charge of the project, 4 heads of administrative departments, 8 subject teachers, and 1 school committee, in the total of 120 persons. The instrument was the questionnaire in a 5-point rating scale. The data was analyzed with frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation. For the qualitative method, six key informants chosen from 3 schools (from each province) by purposive sampling were 2 persons from each school : school administrator and teacher in charge of the project. The instrument was a semi-structured interview protocol. The data was analyzed with content analysis.


The findings indicated that 1) Performance based on moral school development process under the project of King Education Fund 3rd Batch in Southern provinces in overall was at the high level. When considering all aspects, it was found that the aspect of school supervision and monitoring was higher than others. 2) The performance problems of moral school process under the project of King Education Fund 3rd Batch in Southern provinces revealed three aspects as follows: the staffs lacked of recognition and continuity to elevate teachers and student leaders, there was no supervision and monitoring to the project, and lacked of a clear tools for evaluation. 3) Guidelines for the development of moral school under the project of King Education Fund 3rd Batch in Southern provinces showed that school should arrange a field trip for a pilot school of morality, organize the activities with a clear format of moral support corresponding a plan or project, and have the internal supervision continuously.
