Development and User-Perceived Evaluation of an Academic Works Database System

Abstract

This study aimed to develop an information database system for managing data on faculty members’ academic works and to evaluate users’ perceptions of the system in terms of system quality, information quality, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and user satisfaction. A research-and-development approach followed by system evaluation was employed. The sample comprised 42 faculty members and relevant personnel involved in the use of academic-work data at the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Design and Creative Arts, Mahasarakham University. The research instruments consisted of the developed database system and a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. The results showed that the developed system systematically supported the storage, retrieval, and reporting of data on faculty members’ academic works. Overall, users rated the system at high to highest levels, particularly in terms of perceived usefulness and user satisfaction. In addition, the examined variables were positively and significantly correlated. The findings suggest that the database system can support the management of academic-work data within the faculty and has the potential to be further developed into a centralized organizational database.
