Guidelines for Developing Information Systems: Findings in Isan Sub-District, Mueang District, Buriram Province

Abstract

This research aimed to study the state and needs of information system development management and guidelines for managing the development of information systems in Isan sub-district of Buriram Province. The sample groups in the research were the group of information users in Isan Municipality, total of 30 people. The statistics used were percentage, mean and standard deviation. The study found that Most of the respondents were female, aged between 31-40 years and an information user in Isan Sub-District Municipality of Muang District of Buriram Province, graduated at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Most of them have been educated in information systems from the state of problems related to resources related to their information use. Overall, the problem was at a moderate level, with a high number of tools, materials, equipment and facilities for organizing information systems. The process of managing the information used in general, the problems were at a moderate level, with many problems arising continuously from the improvement of municipal information. In the used database of information, there was mostly a problem at the Medium level, which many problems were such as the speed of presenting information etc. For guidelines of problems solutions, in the part of resource, it should be planned for the development of information systems, training of organize academic personnel and data analysis, after the training, it should provide the efficient, modern and sufficient equipment/Tools and adopt it for the planning in the sub-district development and there should be a system to promote employees to see the importance of organizing information systems. In the Process, it should make the meeting for the development and the production for using the information by providing operational planning, data collection, and preparation of information systems. In the database, there should be a survey of the demand for information and store the all data covering the entire system and a responsible storage team has been established, who have expertise in the operation and a backup system for preventing loss and mistake, and most importantly, there should be a system for the security of sensitive and confidential information. There was always an exchange of information with other agencies. A local statistical data center was established and opened for severing the Information and disseminated the information in CD documents and Web Site including setting up an audit team for following up on the performance and it should conduct a systematic survey and collect data according to the action plan and established a good and standardized information management system.
