Abstract

          This article is part of a thesis on the Huigu of the Zhuang in Guangxi, China. The objective was to study the process of making Huigu drums of the Zhuang people in Guangxi, China. Field data collection from drum makers was used. by selecting 2 persons


          The results showed that the drum making process consisted of two major steps: 1) the material selection process consisting of wood selection, cowhide selection, and bamboo selection, and 2) the drum making process consisting of the drum body (traditional) and new drum body (Modern style), make head drum skins, make stringing and sound adjustments. Both methods use traditional and modern tools to build and customize.
