Study of Poetry in Inscriptions in Chiang Tung

Abstract

This study aims to study poetry found in inscriptions in Chiang Tung in order to analyze the writing styles. The study was mainly based on the report of Lanna inscriptions, collected by the Social Research Institute, Chiang Mai University, Volume 15, in 2013 AD. It was found that two inscriptions were inscribed in poetry, which are the inscription of Chaimanataram (1451 AD) and the inscription of Muang Luai (1462 AD). The writing style was not strict and was nearly the same as that of the inscription of Chiang Mai. This well reflects the influence of both the language use and Buddhism that Chiang Tung got from Chiang Mai.
