The Study of Geographic Information System on City Data Platform (CDP) for Evaluating Land Use Changes: A Case Study of Kalasin Comprehensive Plan

Abstract

This research examines the application of the City Data Platform (CDP) for evaluating land use changes in the Kalasin Comprehensive Plan using 1:4,000 scale maps (BLDG), Geographic Information System (GIS) data, and SuperMap GIS software, complemented by in-depth interviews with stakeholders including provincial administrators, government heads, local government executives, and private sector representatives. The researcher presented findings through a Map Dashboard for enhanced data visualization and comprehension. The findings show that CDP is a crucial tool for land use planning data management, enabling relevant agencies such as the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, The Department of Lands, and the Treasury Department to collect and analyze urban data effectively. The analysis reveals that overall land use patterns are changing in ways that may affect population growth accommodation and economic activities, and clearly displays land use exceeding regulations. The study concludes that land use in the Kalasin Comprehensive Plan 2019 aligns with the plan's objectives. Research recommendations include promoting development around the new government center located in low-density residential areas (yellow zones) to reduce congestion and traffic in the old urban area, emphasizing appropriate land use connectivity and integration of various functional spaces within the city.
