Buildings Sustainability Assessments: Concepts and Applications

Abstract
At the present, assessment criteria have been developed in many countries. Especially in developing countries that are faced with many aspects of development. Causing an impact on the environment it wasted a lot of resources. Therefore recognizes the importance of developing building sustainability assessment criteria. At the beginning of the establishment of the building environmental assessment criteria. All will focus to the environment. And in terms of being "green", it is the concept of an assessment method. and evaluation results. In evaluating green buildings, it is a concept that refers to energy-efficient design, waste treatment and the use of environmentally friendly materials. Later, the use of green building concept has a higher market value. Has developed is integrated and more applied the concept of sustainability as a factor of building assessment criteria. The objective of this paper is to review the concepts, indicators, requirements and application characteristics of existing building sustainability assessment criteria. Including the role of the criteria from its inception to the present. The results of the study of building assessment criteria in the country and internationally recognized used. It was found that, the first is environmental problems, 2nd is for sustainability, 3rd is the improvement of the building industry. And 4th the need to develop assessment criteria based on countries that have already been used. In the role of current use, found a problem in the use is cost. Which greatly resulted in the motivation to participate in the assessment. And the second is the indicators that don’t cover the issues of society and culture.
