The Guidelines for The Development of Landscape Architecture Courses in Accordance with World’s Changes

Abstract

The objectives of studying the guidelines for the development of Landscape Architecture course in accordance the changing world situation area. (1) to study the concept of Landscape Architecture and case studies of Landscape Architecture Courses in Thailand and abroad, (2) to study the demand of entrepreneurs, and (3) to study the guidelines for improving Bachelor of Landscape Architecture of Faculty of Architecture, Urban Design, and Creative arts Mahasarakham University collecting data from the related theories, concepts, case studies from educational institutions, inquiries from both public and private organizations. The researchers also collect data from questionnaires, interviews with stakeholders,  analyze the data both statistically, numerical and descriptive comparison. The study found that the world-changing situation, including environmental problems and the COVID-19 epidemic make Landscape Architecture an important factor in solving environmental issues and encouraging more outdoor activities. The design of curricula in Thailand and abroad are similar in terms of course content. It was also found that the courses of Landscape Architecture in Thailand and abroad are similar in terms of content but the course duration are different. In terms of curriculum development issues. It is important to understand concepts and knowledge of Landscape Architecture Design and other sciences concurrently. Moreover, the curriculum must be able to integrate with other related sciences, including having to learn in times of change and be up-to-date with the world. Graduates must respect the rules of the organization. Have analytical and communication skill, be able to resolve problems appropriately and fluently in using technology to deliver a presentation.
