Participatory Action Research in the Development of Classroom Research Curriculum of Buriram Province

Abstract

Action research is an important tool in developing and solving problems for learners This research aimed to develop the curriculum of participatory action classroom research. The target group of the research were the 15 teachers of Wat Ban Salaengkhong School, Plubpla Chai District, from Buriram Educational Service Area 2 who voluntarily participate in the development. The research found that:

1. Conditions doing research in the classroom, school administrators support all

teachers to have the opportunity to develop themselves by encouraging additional study or doing classroom research. Some teachers did classroom research in terms of problem in  academic achievement, but not systematically. The reason why teachers had not done   classroom research was lacking of knowledge about the research methodology, funding,  academic papers, including the lack of consultation in the research.

1.   Course outline assessment, 1) Evaluation results from the sample, teachers who co-developed the curriculum had verified the accuracy, coverage and appropriateness of the curriculum, 2) Expert assessment, the experts had noted that the developed curriculum was well suited to a very good level, and suggested structuring the content in  sequential order from simple to hard.
2. The trial course results, the teachers who co-developed the curriculum had gained the basic knowledge of classroom action research, had skills in conducting classroom  research from start to finish, the classroom action research report was at a good level, teachers had a positive attitude towards classroom action research, and appreciate the value of classroom action research.
