Abstract

This article aims to explore the complex historical process that has led to the current understanding and stigmatization of sexuality–specifically, how the United Kingdom developed such belief and its colonial legacy which still affects today’s LGBT politics in former colonial countries and throughout the world. The study also looks at India which initially used the UK as its model regarding the social construction of sexuality, but now holds a different perception and framework on the topic of sexuality.
