Global Britain?: The Future of the United Kingdom after the Withdrawal from the European Union

Abstract

The future of post Brexit UK is a controversial issue around the world, especially after Theresa May, the UK prime minister, announced her first post Brexit policy indicating the path of this country which she called “Global Britain”. The very objective of this policy is too let the world know that UK is more than ready to negotiate and strengthen relationships with the rest even though it is not a part of the EU anymore. Global Britain policy prioritises economic development by negotiating trade deals and building up free trade agreement. However, after almost 2 years of Brexit, there has been no such practical strategy for the policy at all. The government has been majorly criticised by many. British started to question about the unstable future of their country. Still, both internal and external issues are knocking UK at the door, such as economic recession from leaving the EU and other issues that are about to come, all of which have no solution. This current situation has brought about the question of this essay, “Will UK rise or fall with the Global Britain policy?”.
