Moreover, EU is also a significant supporter of international norms, particularly human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, rule of law, and human rights. However, the outstanding status comes with the expectation for EU to have a leading role and responsibility in solving a crisis.
The influx of migrants in 2015 is a formidable challenge for EU to seek for competent management because the issue relates to human-centric norms, which EU supports in international arena. Also, lack of such management might undermine the security of member states and region. This article argues that EU should have the leading role and responsibility in managing and solving the influx of migrants in 2015 in order to maintain its respected status in the international arena since EU is one of the most outstanding organisations who strengthen the human rights. If EU fails to effectively solve the crisis, it might lose the leading role and respect of the international community, thereby posing a question whether EU could be capable of managing the future crisis, particularly when it takes place on its own territory.
