บทคัดย่อ

การแปลศึกษาเป็นศาสตร์แขนงหนึ่งที่รวมเอาการศึกษาประเด็นทางภาษาศาสตร์ สังคมและวัฒนธรรมที่เกี่ยวกับการแปลเข้ามาพิจารณา การอพยพย้ายถิ่นนับเป็นอีกหนึ่งแนวทางศึกษา โดยเฉพาะการนำปัญหาอันเกิดจากการเคลื่อนย้ายผู้คน ภาษา และวัฒนธรรม เข้ามาเป็นประเด็นในการวิจัยซึ่งนักวิชาการยุโรปได้บุกเบิกไว้เป็นอย่างดี กระนั้นการแปลศึกษายังไม่ขยายขอบเขตเข้าไปศึกษาประเด็นต่าง ๆ เกี่ยวกับผู้อพยพย้ายถิ่นมากนัก ในยุโรปงานวิชาการส่วนใหญ่กระจุกตัวอยู่ที่การวิเคราะห์ตัวบทและศึกษาเฉพาะตัวตน/ประสบการณ์ของผู้อพยพ งานที่ศึกษาเพื่อให้ความช่วยเหลือแก่กลุ่มเปราะบางทางสังคมนี้มักเป็นงานในเชิงสังคมศาสตร์หรือการพัฒนาระหว่างประเทศ บทความชิ้นนี้จึงต้องการเสนอให้การแปลศึกษาหันมาให้ความสำคัญกับการอพยพย้ายถิ่นอย่างจริงจัง จนเกิดเป็น “ยุคสมัยการแปลแห่งการอพยพย้ายถิ่น” โดยใช้ประเด็นการแปล/ล่ามเพื่อบริการสาธารณะเป็นหลักในการศึกษาวิจัย
