งานวิจัยฉบับนี้ศึกษาผลกระทบของกฎระเบียบของสหภาพยุโรปว่าด้วยการโอนย้ายนักกีฬาฟุตบอลอาชีพข้ามสโมสรในแวดวงกีฬาฟุตบอลยุโรป ซึ่งมีประเด็นเกี่ยวกับสิทธิมนุษยชน โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งประเด็นงานวิจัยฉบับนี้ได้มุ่งเน้นศึกษาประเด็นเกี่ยวกับการรับนักกีฬาฟุตบอลอาชีพเข้ามาสังกัดสโมสรและการโอนย้ายนักกีฬาฟุตบอลข้ามสโมสรภายใต้ระบบกฎหมายสหภาพยุโรป งานวิจัยฉบับนี้จึงได้ศึกษาวิเคราะห์ประเด็นเกี่ยวกับทิศทางและนโยบายสหภาพยุโรปเกี่ยวกับการโอนย้ายนักกีฬาฟุตบอลอาชีพ พร้อมกับวิเคราะห์อุปสรรคของการปกป้องคุ้มครองสิทธิเสรีภาพว่าด้วยการโอนย้ายนักกีฬาฟุตบอลอาชีพ
