POLITICAL PARTICIPATION OF WOMEN IN KHONSAWAN SUBDISTRICT MUNICIPALITY STUDY A CASE STUDY OF KHONSAWAN SUBDISTRICT MUNICIPALITY STUDY KHONSAWAN DISTRICT, CHAIYAPHUM PROVINCE

Abstract

Abstract

The objectives of the research were to study  1)  the level of women’s participation in local politics,  2) the comparison of the women’s political participation, and  3) the women’s political participation in Khon Sawan Sub-district Municipality, a case study of Khon Sawan Subdistrict Municipality, Khon Sawan District, Chaiyaphum Province.  The research methodology was the mixed method.  Qualitative research collected data from 9 key informants and quantitative research collected data with questionnaires from 363 samples out of 3,915 people.  The tools were questionnaires and interview formats.  The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation.  The hypotheses were tested by the t and f values.  The data were analyzed by description.

The findings of the research were as follows: 1) The overall level of the women’s participation in local politics was high ( =4.06) when classified by side from high to low. 2) The comparison of the public opinions on the women’s participation in local politics found that the people with different sex and income had no different opinions on women’s local political participation but the people with different ages, educational levels and occupations ha different opinions about women’s local political participation with a statistical significance of 0.05. 3) The analyses of the presentation of the women’s local political participation found that (1) in terms of satisfaction, participating in meeting and discussing about politics with others (2) participating in discussing and monitoring the working policies of politicians

(3) participating in notifying vote-buying corruption clues and disseminating accurate knowledge or information to the public (4) participating in election checking, monitoring policies of politicians and local political administrators.
