กระบวนการทำงานเพื่อชุมชนในการออกแบบวิหารพระอุปคุต ณ สวนสาธารณะหนองแวง จ.มหาสารคาม

Abstract

This research aimed to use community participation in the study for the design of vihara Phra Upakut in the water and surrounding landscape at ​​Nong Waeng public park in Kantharawichai District, Maha Sarakham Province for merit-making events and community activities. That was a Participatory Action Research (PAR). The methods were used to collect data including field survey, in-depth interview, small focused group meeting and organizing a forum to exchange opinions. The design development with the community continuously at each step including planning, design and construction process, and management/benefit allocation. To summarize the design guidelines for vihara Phra Upakut according to the community requires which were simple shape, decoration and building structure. While it was also showed the familiar art and architecture in Thai-Lan Chang style (Thai-Isan) and used of local plants in landscape design under limited cost and context. Moreover, in each part of the design process that exchange of knowledges between designers and community in the creation of religious architecture and landscape. The work intention of community leader and stakeholders, additionally knowledge and understanding in the same direction of the people in the community is an important factor in driving the work to great success.
