Comparative Study on the Student Admission Systems for Faculty of Architecture, Urban Design and Creative Arts Mahasarakham University

Abstract

      Faculty of Architecture, Urban Design and Creative Arts, Mahasarakham University is regarded as one of the famous faculty which offers Bachelor's Degrees in Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch), Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (B.L.A), and Bachelor of Fine and Applied Arts (B.F.A) By the curricula in Bachelor of Architecture, it consists of 3 offered courses, which are Architecture, Urban Architecture, and Interior Architecture. All 3 subjects are 5 year-term courses. For the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture Program, there is 1 program, which is the 5-year program in Landscape Architecture. The Bachelor of Fine and Applied Arts offers 1 program which is Creative Arts. This consists of 3 majors which are Communication Art and Design, Industrial Crafts Design, and Fashion and Textile Design. Each is 4 year-term program. According to the collected data from the Office of Registration in each bachelor program of Faculty of Architecture, Urban Design, and Creative Arts, Mahasarakham University, during the academic year 2011 to 2017, the data was used to analyze for percentage, mean, standard deviation, T-test, and Chi-square in order to compare the academic results of the learners within the programs, who were recruited by the different methods of admissions, and to analyze academic performances of the learners between senior high school education and undergraduate of the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Design, and Creative Arts, for the productivity of the graduates and comparing the results of the studies on different admission methods and grades between senior high school studies and undergraduate of the learners. The result of the research was used in order to improve and find suitable methods for the admission in each course offered by the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Design, and Creative Arts for better quality and efficiency, to fulfill the needs of each course, support economic development, social, and labor market as well as to be able to use the information to plan for the next admission for each program which offers by the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Design, and Creative Arts, Mahasarakham University.
