Development of Housing Modification Model for Promotion of the Elderly Life Quality

Abstract

Research Article " Development of Housing Modification Model for Promotion of the Elderly Life Quality" aims to improve the living environment to be suitable and safe. Participatory Action Research methodology with Mixed Methods Research was used for three case studies. The results of the study were as follows: Condition of housing problem in target cases was found that most of the elderly had difficulty accessing the living space due to unfavorable physical condition. So, the elderly cannot perform their daily activities. The housing improvement implementation found that local cooperation is very important and effective, materials used and harmonious concept with the social context. The model found are: to avoid the different floor levels, the size and proportion might fit the physical and lifestyle of the elderly, convenience and safety, Multi-purpose space management and able to interact with society.
