The Tipitaka in Pali language (Thai version), the primary source of Theravada Buddhist doctrines, contains 45 volumes, approximately 22,400 pages. However, because Buddhist teachings originated from the same root, once ones grasp the method of study, the abundant teachings will progressively and systematically integrate into their understanding process. This article illustrates that before his enlightenment, the Buddha explored and analyzed essential principles such as the Four Elements (Dhātu), the Six Sense Bases (Āyatana), or the Dependent Origination (Paṭiccasamuppāda). On the night of his enlightenment, he attained the Threefold Knowledge (Vijjā) and realized the Four Noble Truths (Ariyasacca), becoming the Supreme Enlightened One. In essence, the significant events that occurred to the Buddha on that night were: the complete eradication of the mental defilements (Āsava) and the realization of Ariyasacca. This realization involved synthesizing Paṭiccasamuppāda into the first three of Ariyasacca and summarizing his experiences during the six years of intense practice into the path to the cessation of suffering, known as Magga. Thus, Paṭiccasamuppāda and Ariyasacca are interconnected and form the foundation of Buddhist teachings. Both of these teachings also point to the principle of Idappaccayatā, which is the doctrine of conditionality. Understanding this core set of teachings will facilitate comprehension of other Buddhist doctrines, such as: the Buddha’s exclamation (Buddha-udāna) uttered on the seventh day after his enlightenment, the insight (Dhamma-cakkhu) gained by Venerable Aññakoṇḍañña after hearing the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta and the "Ye-dhamma" stanza taught by Venerable Assaji to the young man, Upatissa.
Prachirn Chuenrukchart พระมหาธณัชพงศ์ สุพรหมปัญโญ Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Graduate Studies Review https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-08-30 2025-08-30 21 2 299 311 An Analysis of the Roles and Differences Between Thematic Papers and Doctoral Dissertations: A Case Study of the Ph.D. Program in Buddhist Studies, Graduate School, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University https://so02.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/JGSR/article/view/280561
Doctoral education comprises two critical academic components: doctoral dissertation and thematic paper, which serve distinct roles and functions in the researcher development process. This article provides a comparative analysis of the differences between doctoral dissertation and thematic paper across various dimensions including: sequential order in curriculum, objectives and goals, scope and complexity of work, supervision and evaluation, and significance for degree completion. The analysis reveals that thematic papers serve as assessment tools for evaluating student readiness before entering the main research phase, while doctoral dissertations represent major research endeavors aimed at creating new knowledge and serve as decisive criteria for graduation. This is a documentary research project that primarily examines data from Buddhadasa Bhikkhu's book Ãnãpãnasati-Samadhi-Bhãvanã, alongside references to the Tipiṭaka and its commentaries.

The research found that Buddhadasa Bhikkhu's teachings emphasize the three characteristics of existence (Tilakkhaṇa): (1) Aniccã (impermanence), the ever-changing nature of all phenomena; (2) Dukkhã (suffering), which arises from this impermanence; and (3) Anattã (non-self), the principle that denies a permanent self in all things. All phenomena are regarded as devoid of inherent existence (Sunyatã), and suffering is viewed as arising from attachment, which can be extinguished through the realization of the Four Noble Truths and adherence to Buddhist principles.

The methods of teaching Dhamma in Zen Buddhism include: (1) awakening to the present moment, (2) living in simplicity and harmony with nature, and (3) emphasizing daily life as a path to spiritual awakening. Zen practice does not require separation from daily activities; rather, each activity becomes a vehicle for enlightenment when performed with awareness in accordance with Dhamma. The goal of Zen Buddhism is not to enhance personal efficiency or happiness, but to foster full presence in the moment. Buddhadasa Bhikkhu's approach to teaching Zen Buddhism involves: (1) recognizing the impermanence of life, (2) letting go of attachment to worldly conditions (Lokadhamma), and (3) practicing to attain the cessation of suffering through realization of the three characteristics. This includes understanding the nature of impermanence, releasing attachment, and realizing mental emptiness—considered the essence of the true Buddha—to attain Nirvana in this present life.
PhrakhruPrajakvaranukij Chutintharo(Changkae) Kritsana Raksachom Orachorn Kraichackra Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Graduate Studies Review https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-08-30 2025-08-30 21 2 131 151 An Annlytical Study of Manomayiddhi in the Mahasakuludayi Sutta https://so02.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/JGSR/article/view/274335
This article aims to study the structure and substance of the genus Taisutra to study Manom Yitti. A mixed methods research design was employed, combining documentary analysis from the Tipiṭaka, commentaries, sub-commentaries, related academic works, and articles; qualitative data collection through in-depth interviews with experts, scholars, and Buddhist monks in Ecclesiastical Region 10; and quantitative data collection using questionnaires and focus group discussions. The study revealed that the belief in Devabhūmi the six heavenly realms within the Kāma-loka according to Theravāda Buddhism — exerts profound influence on the Thai worldview and social behavior. Thai people widely believe that virtuous actions, such as having faith in the Triple Gem, respecting the law of karma, observing moral precepts, and practicing the ten courses of wholesome action (kusala-kammapatha), will result in favorable rebirth in the heavenly realms and lead to happiness in future existences.

The key findings of the research are threefold: (1) The belief in Devabhūmi serves as a psychological motivator that strengthens individuals’ sense of social responsibility, as people trust that their good deeds will bear fruit both in this life and the next; (2) the patterns of mutual support in Thai society encompass daily acts of kindness, organizing public benefit activities, donating wealth and labor for communal causes, engaging in public welfare, and sacrificing for the greater good during times of crisis such as natural disasters or epidemics; (3) the development of promotional processes should explicitly integrate Buddhist ethical principles, particularly by communicating the importance of key doctrines such as the three bases of meritorious action (puññakiriyā-vatthu), the four bases of social harmony (saṅgahavatthu), and the four household virtues (gharāvāsa-dhamma) to raise awareness and foster pro-social attitudes and behaviors.

The study’s main recommendation is that Buddhist organizations, educational institutions, and related agencies should collaborate to design training programs, public communication campaigns, and participatory workshops aimed at instilling an understanding of the belief in Devabhūmi and its relationship to mutual support. By creatively transmitting these values to younger generations, such initiatives would lay a crucial foundation for strengthening social cohesion, enhancing social capital, and guiding Thai society toward stable and sustainable development at both the community and national levels.
เตชินท์ สิทฺธาภิภู Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Graduate Studies Review https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-08-30 2025-08-30 21 2 169 184 THE APPROACH TO EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT THROUGH MODERN TECHNOLOGY AT PHRA PARIYATTIDHAMMA PHROMWACHIRAYAN SCHOOL, WAT YANNAWA, SATHORN DISTRICT, BANGKOK https://so02.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/JGSR/article/view/279785
The study titled “The Approach to Educational Management through Modern Technology at Phra Pariyattidhamma Phromwachirayan School, Wat Yannawa, Sathorn District, Bangkok” has three objectives: (1) to study the problems in educational management at Phromwachirayan Monastic School, Wat Yannawa, (2) to study the current usage of modern technology in educational management at the school, and (3) to study guidelines for enhancing educational management using modern technology. This qualitative research employed in-depth interviews with 24 key informants selected through purposive sampling, including Buddhist scholars, administrators of Panyananthaphikkhu Medical Center, Dhamma volunteers, and medical professionals/nurses/caregivers. The collected data was analyzed using content analysis and presented through descriptive research findings. The research results

Revealed Regarding problems and causes affecting happiness creation for cancer patient caregivers, the study found that caregivers face multiple challenges, including lack of knowledge and skills in patient care, increasing economic burdens, lack of social and emotional support, and insufficient time for self-care physically, emotionally, and spiritually. These conditions lead to chronic stress, emotional exhaustion, and reduced quality of life for caregivers.

Regarding Buddhist principles that promote happiness for cancer patient caregivers, the Four Divine States of Mind (Brahmaviharas) and the Four Paths to Success (Iddhipada) can be effectively applied. The Four Divine States include: Loving-kindness (Metta), helping caregivers develop compassion toward patients and themselves; Compassion (Karuna), facilitating understanding of patients' physical and mental pain; Sympathetic joy (Mudita), encouraging appreciation of even small improvements in treatment; and Equanimity (Upekkha), helping caregivers practice letting go of uncontrollable circumstances. The Four Paths to Success include: Aspiration (Chanda), helping caregivers find satisfaction in their duties; Effort (Viriya), supporting perseverance even when fatigued; Thoughtfulness (Citta), enhancing concentration for detailed observation of patient symptoms; and Investigation (Vimamsa), enabling caregivers to continuously improve their care methods.

Guidelines for creating happiness for cancer patient caregivers through Buddhist integration include: 1) Developing understanding and acceptance of one's role by reframing caregiving as an opportunity for merit-making; 2) Nurturing the caregiver's physical and mental health through adequate rest, exercise, nutrition, and mindful self-reflection; 3) Applying the Four Divine States and Four Paths to Success as spiritual nourishment, along with mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom practices to reduce stress; 4) Seeking support from family and community rather than bearing burdens alone; and 5) Finding happiness in small things and meaning in caregiving, while using art, music, Dhamma, or preferred activities for self-renewal.

The knowledge gained from this research can be applied to develop happiness enhancement programs for caregivers of cancer patients and those with other chronic diseases by integrating Buddhist principles with holistic healthcare. This integration can improve caregivers' quality of life and enable them to provide effective and sustainable patient care
นางสาวรังษิยา อุ่นใจ Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Graduate Studies Review https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-08-30 2025-08-30 21 2 234 252 Integrative Buddhist Approach to Quality of Life Enhancing through the Law of Kamma in the Petavatthu https://so02.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/JGSR/article/view/279600
The research titled “Integrative Buddhist approach to quality of Life Enhancement through the Law of Kamma in the Petavatthu” aims to (1) examine the principles of quality of life development in Buddhism and Abraham Maslow’s humanistic theory, (2) explore the doctrinal essence of kamma in the Petavatthu, and (3) propose an integrated Buddhist approach for life enhancement rooted in karmic insight. This is a qualitative study employing textual analysis and in-depth interviews with scholars.

The findings reveal that the Buddhist law of kamma constitutes a rational system intricately linking actions to consequences, directly and indirectly influencing human behavior. The Petavatthu illustrates karmic outcomes through narratives of pretas (hungry ghosts) and related individuals, affirming that postmortem existence proceeds according to the moral force of past actions. When juxtaposed with Maslow’s theory, both frameworks emphasize physical and psychological well-being; however, Buddhism transcends Maslow’s secular model by orienting quality of life toward Lokuttara—liberation from suffering as the ultimate goal.

Expert interviews affirm that a proper understanding of kamma fosters self-awareness, clarity of life purpose, personal accountability, and mindful coping with adversity. Recognizing that past negative deeds can be transformed through present wholesome actions alleviates distress and empowers moral agency. Integrating karmic principles with contemporary psychological insights thus provides a holistic framework for sustainable life development—materially, socially, mentally, and spiritually. This integration is guided by the principles of kamma, holistic development, and life satisfaction, as conceptualized in the KDC Model formulated from this research.
พระมหาชัยพร อมรปญฺโญ Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Graduate Studies Review https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-08-30 2025-08-30 21 2 253 267 UPGRADING THE MAINTENANCE OF THE 5 PRECEPTS QUALITY ASSURANCE OF THE BUDDHIST COMMUNITY IN WAT WAN BUN COMMUNITY KHLONG LUANG DISTRICT PATHUM THANI PROVINCE https://so02.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/JGSR/article/view/279388

The observance of the Five Precepts is a fundamental principle of Buddhist practice, influencing not only individual behavior but also contributing to the overall development of community quality.
