An approach to operations of worker monks according to Buddhist principles

Abstract

This research paper entitled “An approach to operations of worker monks according to Buddhist principles” has three objectives: 1) to study the birth and development of Worker monks, 2) to study the operations of worker monks, 3) to propose an approach to operations of worker monks according to Buddhist principles to monastic society of Thailand at present. This paper is documentary research. The study results showed that when problems happened in monastic society, monks told this matter to the Buddha. During his time, The Buddha allowed the appointment of monks as worker monks for various functions in a monastic community, such as management of robes, meals, lodging, monastery, and storeroom.  For the monastic society of Thailand at present, appointments of worker monks are still necessary. The appointed worker monks should perform their assigned duties in according to Buddhist principles
