The last moment of mind: The truth a Buddhist should know

Abstract

This article shows the importance of the dying moment mind on the dead bed.  It is always true for the fact that we all must die one day. Therefore, everyone must learn how to prepare the last mind well before death.  The last mind at dead bed is the transferring mind leads to the rebirth in different realms whether wholesome or unwholesome. In another word, when experiencing near death moment, the last mind is the most important moment of transferring of destinations whether pleasant or unpleasant. According to the Buddhism, the last mind is unwholesome, the transferring destination is fated to the unpleasant worlds. In the opposite way wholesome mind will lead to the pleasant realms. There are 4 different deeds: Garukamma, Asannakamma, Acinnakamma and Katattakamma.  Any of these four karmas determine the last mind. Wholesome deeds purify the mind before dying while the unwholesome deeds pollute the intrinsic nature of last mind. The new birth will be destined by the quality of the last mind. Wholesome deeds can be accumulated through practicing 3 meritorious actions namely generosity, self-controls, and purification of mind. Moreover, Buddhists must live their lives recklessly by avoiding and restraining from all kinds of misery action.
