Monks and the Development of Anti-corruption Behavior in Thai society

Abstract

This research aims to study of  building awareness to anti-corruption in Thai Society, the role of  monks to building awareness to anti-corruption and the concept of Buddhist teaching for apply to building awareness to anti-corruption in current Thai Society. The researcher has taken information from document, Buddhist Texts, in-depth interview and observation for analyzing to achieve the objectives.

The research results were found that:

          The monks have important role to building awareness to anti-corruption  in Thai Society that has integrated  the Buddhist teaching i.e. moral shame (hiri), moral dread (Ottappa)in human ways of life which is the principle that controls one's mind to act in a correct way. Such an integration was done together in the field of the Sangha, government and the people.
