An Enhancing of Moral Consciousness Based on Buddhist Psychology for Youths

Abstract
The purpose of this article was to propose result of the Enhancing of Moral Consciousness Based on Buddhist Psychology for Youths. Mixed methods research was used for research design. The sample group was grade 8 of secondary students from Thai Kasikornsongkrao school, Chonburi Province. Purposive sampling was used for the sample selection. There were 30 samples in experiment group and 30 samples in control group. Research tools were questionnaires on reasoning of thinking and Bhavana IV behavioral measurement form, activity note taking, focus groups and activity packages. There were three phases of the workshop consisted of phase I to adjust thinking with 10 activities for 3 days. Phase II was the project of cooperate social responsibility with 6 months, and phase III of evaluation using 9 activities for 2 days. Quantitative data was analyzed by using t-test, One Way ANOVA and qualitative data was analyzed by using content analysis and analytic induction. The results shown that the students who participated in the activity enhancing the moral consciousness according to Buddhist psychology had higher scores after the experiment than before the experiment with statistical significance at the level of .05 and the experimental group had an average score of moral consciousness enhancing according to Buddhist psychology after the experiment higher than the control group with statistical significance at the level of .05. In addional, it also found that the virtues that were suitable for enhancing good consciousness were the objects of sympathy ((Sangahavatthu 4), systematic attention ((Yonisomanasikàra) and the evaluation of the characteristics according to meditation 4 (Bhàvanà 4) through the moral consciousness process. The process began with self-practicing and awareness raising to others as voluntary characteristics which were the fundament for self-practicing in society.
