Buddhist Integrated Paranumismatica and Evaluation of the Five Mãsaka

Abstract

This study consists of 3 objectives: 1) to study evaluation of 5 Mãsakas development in Theravda Buddhism; 2) to study Masaka in the ancient Indian paranumismatica; and 3) to present Buddhist integrated ancient Indian paranumismatica and the present evaluation of 5 Mãsakas in Theravda Buddhism. Documentary research was employed as the main format. Over more, interview was the additional format. The research result was found the answers which consistent with the objectives. This included the acknowledgement of the 5 Mãsakas gold is ancient Indian money equaling 5 Masa grain gold weight or the weight of 10 guñjã. When compare to the present scale, there are two implications that are accepted; which are 1.13 and 1.18 gram. In the meanwhile, there are two implications of the gold purity in Buddhist integrated Masaka as well. They are 93% and 23.177%. Therefore, this leads to the present evaluation of 5 Mãsakas into 4 cases. However, this research emphasizes on the least value of the four.
