Anapanasati Kammatthana in the Line of Venerable Acariya Mun Bhuridatto in Thailand

Abstract
This research article aims to present the principles of the Anapanasati meditation practice of Acariya Mun Phūridatto linage. According to this tradition, the practitioners must be mindful of in-out breathing along with citing that Bud-Dho, that is, while breathing in, citing ‘Bud’, breathing out citing ‘Dho’ with clear and comprehensive mindfulness and awareness. While practicing in-out breathing mindfulness, one must contemplate on 5 bases; nose, forehead, outside central brain, inside central brain, skull and chest. The practical disciplines are abandoning all immoral acts, cultivating wholesomeness, being one-concentrated, contemplating on ever-changing, contradiction and non-self. The important teachings of Ven. Mun delivered to his disciples are that mental training, defilement abandoning must be reliable with reason and based on Four Noble Truth. The Anapanasati practice of Ven. Mun Phūridatto has influenced to Thai Sangha and his method became popular practice in Thailand. Moreover, his virtues and moral deeds focusing on strictly following moral codes or Vinaya made him an outstanding, honorable and most respected monk to Buddhists.
