Abstract

This is article is a part of dissertation entitled Vinayalankālatikā (Pathāmo Bhāgo): Translation and Analytical Study aiming at analyzing the values of Vinayalankālatikā part I which influences to Sangha education and the advantages of discipline performance. The findings were that the said scripture was composed to expound the commentary on Vinayasangha text written by Ven. Munindaghosa in Myanmar on 2190 B.E. containing the way of content proposal in 3 parts; 1) preamble with Triple Gems salutation, 2) its contents were explained with 5 ways of proposal such as its definition, word usage etc., 3) summary includes Nigama or ending statement telling history of the said scripture. The values of Vinayalankālatikā (Pathāmo Bhāgo) were seen in 3 main aspects; 1) value of explanation the contents of Vinaya or disciplinary code came from Patimokkha and Abhisamācāra in Khandhaka for easier understanding of the right performance, 2) value as being an equipment of Sangha’s discipline study and 3) value of maintenance of discipline codes which provide a lot of benefits for students and Buddhism as whole.
