ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสิ่งแวดล้อม สังคม และธรรมาภิบาล (ESG) กับต้นทุนหนี้สิน ของบริษัทจดทะเบียนในประเทศไทย

บทคัดย่อ
การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างผลการดำเนินงานด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม สังคม และธรรมาภิบาล (Environmental, Social, and Governance: ESG) กับต้นทุนหนี้สิน (Cost of Debt: COD) ของบริษัทจดทะเบียนในประเทศไทย โดยใช้ข้อมูลแบบ Panel Data ของบริษัทจดทะเบียนจำนวน 66 บริษัท ในช่วงปี พ.ศ. 2559-2567 รวมทั้งสิ้น 594 ตัวอย่าง ข้อมูล ESG ได้มาจากฐานข้อมูล Bloomberg และวิเคราะห์ด้วยแบบจำลอง Fixed Effects โดยการวิเคราะห์ครอบคลุมทั้งคะแนน ESG โดยรวม คะแนนรายมิติด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม สังคม และธรรมาภิบาล ตลอดจนตัวแปรควบคุมทางการเงินที่เกี่ยวข้อง
ผลการศึกษาพบว่า คะแนน ESG โดยรวมและคะแนนด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมแสดงค่าสัมประสิทธิ์เชิงลบกับต้นทุนหนี้สิน ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับข้อคาดการณ์ทางทฤษฎี อย่างไรก็ตาม ความสัมพันธ์ดังกล่าวไม่มีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ เนื่องจากสะท้อนว่า ESG ยังไม่ได้ถูกนำมาใช้ในการกำหนดต้นทุนการกู้ยืมอย่างชัดเจนในบริบทของประเทศไทย ผลลัพธ์ดังกล่าวอาจอธิบายได้จากลักษณะของระบบการเงินไทยที่ยังพึ่งพาสถาบันการเงินเป็นหลัก รวมถึงคะแนนด้านสังคมและคะแนนด้านธรรมาภิบาลก็ไม่พบความสัมพันธ์อย่างมีนัยสำคัญกับต้นทุนหนี้สินเช่นเดียวกัน ในขณะที่พบความสัมพันธ์อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติในตัวแปรควบคุม โดยอัตราผลตอบแทนต่อสินทรัพย์และขนาดกิจการมีความสัมพันธ์เชิงลบกับต้นทุนหนี้สิน ขณะที่อัตราส่วนเงินทุนหมุนเวียนมีความสัมพันธ์เชิงบวกกับต้นทุนหนี้สิน ผลการศึกษาสะท้อนว่าเจ้าหนี้ในประเทศไทยยังคงให้น้ำหนักกับข้อมูลทางการเงินแบบดั้งเดิมมากกว่าข้อมูล ESG ในการประเมินความเสี่ยงด้านเครดิตและกำหนดต้นทุนการกู้ยืมของกิจการ
