Tourist Destination Development Guideline for Phra Sawet Historical Park in Lam Thap District, Krabi Province

Abstract
This study aimed to explore the resources base for supporting tourism in a tourist destination and assess the quality standard of a tourist destination, policies and community needs in the development of tourist destinations leading to the formation of guidelines tourist destination development. In addition, it was conducted by surveying the tourist destination and assessing the tourist destination quality standards, including in-depth interviews with 35 people in the local communities and agencies involved. The result showed that Phra Sawet Historical Park had outstanding features of tourist destination, abundant natural resources and exquisite sculptures. A tourist destination quality standard of Phra Sawet Historical Park was found that the quality of destination rated as “Good” (68.88 points).
Furthermore, communities have policies for the development of forest resources as a source for learning about nature conservation, structural improvements, and development of amenities for availability and ongoing use. Nevertheless, the tourist destination continues to lack follow-up plans and assessment of local impacts. Moreover, the community needs to develop tourist destination and conservation. Therefore, the guidelines for development of tourist destinations should involve development of tourist destination conservation and follow-up on assessment of tourist destination impact in order to ensure that Phra Sawet Historical Park becomes a sustainable tourist destination.
