Guidelines for Development of Competitive Business Managementof Trekking Tourism in 2 Upper Northern Provinces

Abstract
This research was a study on the development of the competitive business management of trekking tourism in 2 upper northern provinces. The objective was to study the situation and the development of the competitive business management of trekking tourism in the 2 upper northern provinces of Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae and Nan. This research was both qualitative and quantitative research. The researcher used purposive sampling method and the research participants including trekking tour operators, local community leaders, local government sectors, tourism association leaders, professional tourist guides and trekking tourists with more than 10 years of experience. The research tools used the research were in-depth interview, participant observation and focus group. The results showed that the potential of trekking tourism management in the upper northern provinces was at a low level. The study recommends that business strategies specifically for trekking tourism must be developed to create competitive tourism business.
