Abstract

       This research aims to study basic information on the self-empowerment of the elderly and to suggest ways to empower the elderly, through the participation of children and youth; Using qualitative research methods, in-depth interviews, and small group discussions. The target group is the elderly, children and youth, academics, and caregivers of 40 people; acquired by the selection, by volunteers; the research tool was a semi-structured interview, content analysis. The results showed that the elderly took care of their health according to their potential, self-worth, and self-development; recommendations for self-empowerment guidelines of the elderly. 1) Encourage knowledge, advice on proper physical health care, 2) Promote creative activities that create happiness with the community, 3) Promote activities that build confidence and Self-esteem, which can lead to career building and income, 4) fosters cognitive abilities, problem-solving through the participation in decision-making, and 5) Promote the ability to manage one's own emotions, and face situations that cause negative emotions.
