Communities’ Satisfaction Survey in Koh Mak Island to Enhance a Development of Tourist Attraction Prototypes

Abstract

The objectives of this Mixed method research are 1) to study community’s satisfaction toward tourist attractions management of Koh Mak, Trat, and 2) to propose methods forprototype development of tourist attractions according to the world sustainable tourism criteria. The semi-structured questionnaire and survey questionnaire were used for data collection. The sample groups were from 3 government agencies, 4 citizens, and 5 entrepreneurs. The present study also collected data from 263 local people. The results revealed that income and educationhad effects on satisfaction, whilegender, ages and occupation did not.ef. In order to meet the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC) which has four aspects, local organizations should help support policies and community in the management and development of the environment, society, public utilities, economy. The results of this research can be used as a guideline for developing sustainable tourism management which can benefitthe community, tourists and environment.
