Development Approach for Community-based Tourism in Travel TV Shows Content in Support of Community-based Tourism

Abstract
This study was a qualitative research whose main objectives include 1) analysis of TV shows supporting community-based tourism and 2) examination of the development of community-based tourism from the content of TV shows. The sample size of TV shows was selected by purposive sampling method. These programs are Caravan Samranjai, Chumchon Tong Tiew, and Chumchon Sueb Thai (total 29 series). The analysis was conducted using textual analysis examining content in three TV shows supporting community-based tourism. The research findings are presented as follows: 1) On the analysis of content supporting community-based tourism in the three TV shows, they all present the development of tourism in the community. The TV shows become the medium in making the cultural capital and local wisdom, which reflects the community identity to the public, and 2) on the examination of community-based tourism development in TV shows supporting travel, it is found that the three programs have a common stand in using experts to provide advice for the community to manage the tourism resources. This suggests that travel TV shows content in support of community-based tourism was the key factors to promote community-based tourism and people in the community would gain benefits from sustainable tourism as a tool for the sustainable development in the community.
